Dr. Z. James Chen

President and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Chen began working as CEO for Origin Agritech in March 2018. He served as Origin's CFO from 2012 to 2016 and was appointed as a director of Origin in August, 2017. Dr. Chen's previous professional experience includes CFO of Yunji Inc., a fast-growing e-commerce business, investment manager at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, and senior analyst positions at Morgan Joseph and BB&T Capital Markets. Dr. Chen is a director and chairman of the Audit Committee of the board of China Finance Online Co. (NASDAQ: JRJC). He holds an MBA in finance and accounting from New York University and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Connecticut. 

 

Xin Zhou

Chief Financial Officer

Zhou joined Origin in July 2017 and began working as CFO in October 2017. Prior to her current role, Zhou served as Monsanto China Finance controller. She has more than 20 years’ experiences in finance and accounting and held various positions at Monsanto, Globallogic, Asiainfo. Legrand Group and Baotou Steel Group in the past. She holds an MAcc. in International Accounting and Financial Management from University of Glasgow. She is the fellow member of ACCA and the CICPA. 

 

Dr. Jihong Liang

Chief Technology Officer

Liang joined Origin as chief technology officer in August 2016. He additionally serves as vice president and general manager of the State Harvest Company, a subsidiary of Origin Agritech Ltd. Prior to his current role, Liang served as the head of Syngenta’s global rice seed research and development. He has nearly 25 years of global industry experience, leading research and development at companies such as Syngenta, Monsanto and the Monsanto-Cargill joint venture Renessen. He has held leadership positions in multiple disciplines, including technology scouting, global crop strategy planning, market research and business development in China, Singapore and the United States. Liang’s scientific work has resulted in 10 patents globally and numerous research articles published in world-class scientific journals. Liang earned his Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from China Agricultural University, doctorate in biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, post-doctoral fellowship in molecular biology from the University of Chicago and Master of Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management in St. Louis.

 

Yaya Young

Vice President and Head of E-Commerce

Yaya Young, a Chinese-American, master of regional economics, Renmin university of China. In recent years dedicated to ecological agriculture and financial derivatives industry research, familiar with international ecological agriculture oriented and potential advantages of financial derivatives industry in China, and to master more sophisticated financial derivatives prediction technology and its subsequent investment trading process in various trading patterns the top-level design. She has worked in the investment bank of the flower group, responsible for the restructuring of China's regional projects and the overseas fund-raising plan. As the main sponsor in 2009, created China's first pig electronic exchange of agricultural products, to build China's pig prices index, three years to platform volume of 100 billion yuan, in the dock with the king pin to agricultural producers as radiant point, provides the main monitoring prices for the department of agriculture agricultural prices and pig grain rate policy adjustment of the price reference. The use of financial leverage to hedge funds, increase farmers' income and integrate the horizontal and vertical integration of national agricultural products.
